Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Due to the limited number of seats for this event, places will be allocated based on a first in basis and those that opt to row both ways may be required to reduce to just the one leg to ensure all members have the opportunity to row. At this point we anticipate that the maximum number will be around 24 people each way (6 quads - total maximum of 48 seats).

The plan will be to row from the Club down the Maribyrnong  to the Westgate Bridge and then up the Yarra to the club boat ramps in Southbank. This trip is approximately 7-8 kilometres one way, and to enable us to offer up to 48 seats in this event we will be looking for people to optionally row one way, either there or return.

If you are opting to row both ways you need to be comfortable with rowing up to 16+ kilometres on the day. (typical Sunday row is about 6 klm). There will also be an option to cox either one way or both when registering.

The plan will be for those that are rowing the return leg from the City to FCRC to car pool into the City, whereby the rowers from the first leg would drive those cars back to the club.

There are a number of elements to the co-ordination of this event that may result in it being cancelled at any time, however the club will be working to mitigate those issues as much as possible, however on the day of the event we will be ultimately governed by both the weather and also approval from the Port of Melbourne Authority to transverse the shipping channel between the Maribyrnong and the Yarra River.

Once we have confirmed numbers we will then work on the co-ordination of boats and crews. Seats will be given first to anyone wanting to row one way, with those opting to row both ways used to back fill any spots available. For safety reason crews and boats will be allocated by the club to ensure all crews have an even distribution of both experience and weight.

Crews rowing to Southbank will need to be at the club by 7.30 and on water before 8am in an effort to minimise any weather disruptions.
